Best Tips for a Successful Online Job Search

Best Tips for a Successful Online Job Search Searching for a new job can be an intensive, extensive, and time-consuming venture when you first start out. For all the time, energy, and hard work you spend; you can still wind up with no good leads on which to apply. So, how do you go about a successful online job search? Here are the best tips on searching the internet for your next job.

1.  Career Sites: First stop on your successful online job search is looking into as many online career sites as possible. Of course, start with the top biggies, but also try smaller ones as well. Look into niche market online career sites that specialize in your particular industry or field. Try local publications and free directory sites. Run as many searches as possible to find the widest amount of career options. Moreover, consider other locations for positions as-in many cases, and more and more-people are hiring remote employees for various industries and positions.

2.  Search Agents: In keeping with finding the most amount of available career sites online, a good way of  keeping track of these and not only remembering them, but also having them work for you, is to create search                                                                   agents. Most onlinejob searchers have to visit all the sites every day                                                                   to look for updated job listings, but if you create custom job search                                                                   agents that automatically review their updated listings every day                                                                   and send these to your email, most of the work is done for you. Not                                                                   all career sites offer this feature but most of the larger ones do, so                                                                   take advantage.

                                                                  3.  Network Online: Another great way to get better results while                                                                        job searching online is to network online. Join a variety of the                                                                        social networking sites out there and visit forums and blogs that                                                                        deal with your career industry or position. This way, you are                                                                        meeting up with people in your field that can not only offer                                                                        valuable advice on how to build and further your career, but they                                                                        also may have positions in mind for you.

                                                                  4.  Website: Create a simple website for your skills. This is one of                                                                        the more innovative, and therefore, more creative ways to stand                                                                        out amongst employers and get the interview and/or the job. By                                                                        creating a simple-and it doesn’t have to be expensive or                                                                        complicated-website to showcase your resume, experience,                                                                        talents, and skills; you give potential employers a professional, easy-to-review demonstration of yourself.

5.  Direct Apply: Another good way to find valuable jobs to apply for is to brainstorm a list of companies you      would be interested in working for, and visit them directly online. The great thing about this is that not only      can you fine tune your interests for employment, but also, you can find out about positions that may not      even be listed in career search sites, that you would’ve otherwise have missed.

6.  Online Recruiters: A valuable resource for finding good jobs online is to check out online recruiters. While      most good headhunters or job recruiters do require a fee, not all do and the ones who do might very well      be worth it to you-depending upon your level of experience and skill set. Doing a simple search for “online      recruiter” or “online headhunter” will give a list of possible recruiters to solicit for help.

7.  Position Query: Lastly, and most times overlooked in online job searching, is the idea of just typing in what      you want into one of the major search engines to find job results. If you’re looking for an engineer position,      you would go to Google or the like and type in “engineer jobs”. This way you get a different search and      possibly get results on jobs that you would not have found otherwise.
